Board Member Call for Scottish Sculpture Workshop
Deadline EXTENDED: 28/09/2015 09:00:00
Scottish Sculpture Workshop (SSW) is looking for new members to join our Board. You do not need previous experience of serving on a board; simply your expertise within your field could make you an ideal candidate.
SSW is a small dynamic Artist Residency Centre, based in the rural village of Lumsden, in the North East of Scotland. Offering workshop facilities, technical expertise and curatorial support, SSW’s programme supports hundreds of artists every year. We have secure funding from Creative Scotland and a growing international reputation. SSW is currently working with MAC Niteroi in the development of Maker’s Meal in Brazil; with artist Brett Bloom in the organisation of the international project CAMP BREAKDOWN BREAK DOWN, addressing artistic and collective responses to climate change; and is a partner organisation in the EU project, Frontiers in Retreat.
Our Board currently consists of a diverse group of practising artists and individuals from other professional backgrounds.
We are keen to expand on the diversity and broaden the skill base within our Board and are particularly interested in people that have experience and skill sets from working in Architecture, Design, Finance, Business, and the Renewable Energy Sector. However, we are also open to skill sets outside of these sectors, and encourage applications from individuals of various expertise, professions and backgrounds.
We are looking for responsible reliable individuals who are committed to supporting Scottish Sculpture Workshop. It is expected that applicants possess a passion for the arts. Beyond this, highly desirable are a range of personal qualities and skills; including excellent communication and listening skills, dynamic thinking, ability to work collaboratively, to be constructive in criticism but to have the confidence to openly discuss points of concern.
If selected to serve on our Board, you would be expected to provide advocacy and support to the small team of staff at SSW. Additionally you would be committed to attend, four meetings per annum, at SSW, in Aberdeenshire (or Aberdeen city, where at least 1 meeting per year is held).
This is an unpaid position, though all reasonable costs for travel and expenses will be covered.
Current and previous board members have found that the role has been incredibly rewarding and contributed to their personal and professional development.
Application process: Please send a cover letter and up to date C.V. to email@example.com. Your cover letter should be no more than 1x A4 page and should outline your experience and interest in joining SSW’s Board.
For further information or enquires, please contact SSW Chair Jacqueline Donachie, firstname.lastname@example.org or call the SSW office on 01464 861372.
