We’ve had a busy week here at SSW! Last week saw the arrival of Natural Bennachie artists ~ in the fields and Henry Coombes, we held a 5 day bronze casting workshop, went to Bennachie to collect peat samples with Dr. Schofield and celebrated the Summer Solstice with a walk to Oxen Craig.
Here are some pictures from the week..
Dr. Ed Schofield, Dr. Tim Mighall and Laura McHardie from the School of Geosciences (University of Aberdeen) led the Peat Sampling day, explaining the importance of vegetation data found in extractions of peat. Joining the team were the Bailies of Bennachie and Natural Bennachie artists Nicole and Stefan (~ in the fields) and Henry Coombes.
Alongside Natural Bennachie events, last week’s Bronze Casting workshop was also a success! Our residents made casts from start to finish in 5 days. Here are some pictures from Thursday’s pour.
We even had a diverting musical interval, kindly performed by our in-house foundry band.
