Technicians’ Outing 8th – 10th August 2013

SSW cordially invites you to…..

Technicians’ OUTING
Technicians in practice: a workshop discussion.

Outing is a three-day symposium on 8th to 10th August 2013*, which brings together arts technicians from across the UK. The three day residential symposia aims to provide an opportunity for technicians working across all fields of art practice to come together and discuss issues pertinent to working as a technician, and more often than not, working also as a practicing artist, as well as sharing knowledge, ideas and resources.

The participants will bring topics of relevance to the table and reflect on the specifics of working as a technician within organisations, institutions and for artists/studios. All are invited to participate in demonstrations and give presentations of practice.

Discussion topics which have been put forward so far include Health and Safety, development of materials and processes, training and certifications, sourcing suppliers, and strategies of negotiating and working for artists, organisations and institutions.

This event will be part discussion, part workshop and part peer-to-peer exchange, as well as including sporting activities, food and good company.

If you would like to take part in the symposium and book a place, or are unable to attend but would still like to contribute, please contact Emily Wyndham Gray at or call 01464 861372.
